What’s In My Fridge & Pantry

OK, it’s time to get personal. What does a whole-foods, plant-based nutritionist eat? Well, I thought I would give you a sneak peek inside my own fridge and pantry…

As you can see, the bulk of what is in my fridge is fresh produce. The bottom shelf holds all of my leafy greens and cruciferous vegetables. The bottom drawer holds the other fruits and veggies. I keep a few staples on hand on the upper shelves, such as miso, home-made dressings and sauces, home-made nut/seed milk, maple syrup and hemp seeds. My new favourite thing is a fresh herb saver, visible in the top right corner. I have a second fridge downstairs where I store bulk nuts/seeds and extra produce for juicing. Our family of four goes through a large grocery cart of produce every week!

As a busy mom, it is also really important to have a well-stocked, well-organized pantry so I can make healthy meals in a snap. I have a pantry cupboard in the kitchen which holds spices and some dry goods, but this is my larger walk-in pantry. I always have a good selection of organic, BPA-free canned legumes, tomatoes, tomato sauce and coconut milk on hand. I also keep bulk staples in here such as quinoa, dried legumes, sprouted grain and bean mixes, whole-grain dry pasta, rolled oats, whole-grain flours, coconut oil and baking supplies.
